In mid-April, news broke that Adele and her husband, Simon Konecki, were [separating(https://www.glamour.com/gallery/celebrity-breakups-2019) after two years of marriage. “Adele and her partner have separated,” an email statement from the singer read. “They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”
And the pop icon has stayed true to her word: She hasn’t said anything else about her split from Konecki—but a meme she just posted to her Instagram low-key acknowledges it. On Wednesday, May 1, Adele put up two side-by-side photos of herself: one where she’s crying and another where she’s cackling with her middle finger up. Alongside she posted this hilarious message: “When you catch yourself in your feelings, then you remember who you are.” Granted, Adele doesn’t specifically mention her split here, but it’s safe to assume any sadness she’s feeling—about Konecki or anything else—has passed.
Check out the meme for yourself, below:
Konecki and Adele started dating in 2011, and one year later they welcomed their son, Angelo. The couple tied the knot in a secret ceremony five years later. Adele confirmed as much at the 2017 Grammys when she called Knoecki her husband in an acceptance speech.
Adele hasn’t released new music since 2015’s 25, but she’s had quite the exciting year. In March, she and good friend Jennifer Lawrence hit up a popular New York City gay bar, Pieces, for what many believed was Lawrence’s bachelorette party. (She’s engaged to Cooke Maroney.) I’m still sad I wasn’t invited to this, TBH.
If Adele’s funny divorce meme surprises you, you’re obviously not looking at her Instagram enough. The Grammy winner is a riot on social media. Just look at this text exchange with her friends that she shared:
