The third episode of Game of Thrones isn’t even out yet, but fans are already so stressed about it. First, there’s that theory going around that suggests the gigantic battle at Winterfell might go awry. Even more concerning is that some people think all the drama will lead to fan favorite Arya Stark’s death. Whatever happens, we can count on it being dramatic and emotional.
Not helping our anxiety about it, though, are these new sneak-peek photos from episode three that HBO just dropped.
As you’ll remember, last week’s episode ended with most of the characters preparing for a huge fight against Night King and the Army of the Dead. And in these new photos, Sansa Stark looks, well, very concerned. The images also show Brienne leading her men like the badass knight she is, as well as Jon Snow standing with a completely petrified expression on his face. Perhaps most interesting of all: It does look like there’s some action happening in the crypts, possibly confirming another interesting fan theory that has been floating around this week.
Take a look at them all, below:
That crypt theory we mentioned earlier was supported by a scene in the trailer in which Daenerys Targaryen tells Jon Snow ominously, “The dead are already here.”
Reddit user IgnorantSportsFan speculates that she might not be referring to the Army of the Dead, but to the actual dead relatives buried in the crypts. As IgnorantSportsFan explains, “All episode they keep repeating and emphasizing how safe it was in the crypt, but it’s GoT and we cannot have nice things. So is it possible we have old Starks rising from the crypts? Or is that too far fetched? PLUS we saw in multiple previews Arya fighting in the crypts with her new weapon….”
It’s too hard to tell, but everyone who is in the crypts in the photos and the trailer do look a little shocked. All we really know for sure about this upcoming episode is that the Game of Thrones creators have said the episode’s epic battle scene was inspired by Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Is it Sunday yet?
